This month, we have decided to move away from coffee articles. As I have mentioned to many of you passing through our doors, we wanted to share thoughts, ideas, feelings; things that were food for thought if you will. This months contribution comes from a friend we met through Rumours and is someone that has grown very near and dear to us. We love you Robert and thank YOU for you and for sharing with us.
LOVE
I end up at Rumours for coffee at the whim of the wind. I never really plan it and its not a daily thing. It probably should be seeing that the coffee as you know is next to unbeatable. Anyway, I was just talking with Franz about happenings in my life and his. And it occurred to me how much I really love Franz and Maggie, the little cup of heaven they share with us off of 11th. Yet why had I never told them about this love before? We rarely tell others how we feel. That we love them. What could be more pure?
I love the wind, I love good coffee, I love my best friend, I love the people at Rumours. Yet, sometimes we are so caught up in our daily grinds that we miss the simple things, like I love you. We fear that if we tell the people we love that we do in fact love them, that if we said it "I love you" they might leave, or laugh, or take it the wrong way. 'I love you, mom."
We are so beside ourselves that we miss the whole point, we stifle that love and think that if we said it, it might vanish like an illusion in some magic show. When really, saying "I love you" only truly magnifies such a grand emotion, feeling, sense of being.
Franz, I love you. I love that you created a coffee shop. I love that you created it in a way that is different, a way that is yours. I love that you are always eager to talk. That you genuinely care what's happening in the worlds of the people that pour through your doors. Thinking perhaps all they'll get is a cup of that magnificent coffee, only to find much more. I love your amazing Maggie for thinking it through and being there. I love you two because you're you, and you.
I challenge all you other Rumours Family Members, friends, lovers, peeps... Try it, if just for today. Tell the people you love... "I love you". Even if you're scared of what could happen, SAY IT. Tell them, all the little things that make them special but mostly, simply say "I love you".

What Humor Are You?
I was recently caught up and still am, in trying to find the funny character that exists within me. I was doing some research to try and determine this characters humour. I thought it would be fun to simply define some types of humour for the amusement our readers. Humour, as you may already know, is the ability of humans to evoke feelings of happiness. The age of a person usually prohibits subjects that humour. Their seemed to be countless types of humour.
I believe that no human is bound to one type, or amount of humour. Humans are all unique and are always changing. With that in mind, here are a few options when considering a funny character....
Caustic= Relies on a witty put down. A clever use of language that conveys biting, insults or use of cruel remarks.
Droll= British comedy is full of Droll humour. It's often dry witty form that elicits laughs through amusingly odd, sometimes zany behavior, or speech.
Meta= Jokes about jokes.
Non-sequitur= A comment, which due to its lack of meaning relative to the comment it follows, is absurd to the point of being humorous, or confusing.
Obscenity= meaning anything taboo, indecent, or disgusting.
Satire= Human, or individual follies/shortcomings are held up to censure by means of ridicule, irony or other methods; sometimes with an intent to bring out improvement.

Rumours has officially launched the "Attitude Box". What is the Attitude Box? It is a place to unload; something on your mind? Something to unload? To share? A good thought? A bad thought? A happy thought? An angry thought? A secret? Whatever it is, you can leave it in the attitude box. --We appreciate your critical feedback! Our 2008/2009 budget forecasts big changes to the patio, including a canopy with dramatic insets, new tables, chairs, a stage and a driveway on the north side! Unfortunately, as a small startup business, our outdoor focus in 2006/2007 budget was limited to fees associated with outdoor dining approvals and building a fence. We agree our umbrellas need serious help and will post our patio blue print plans on the window to "show off" how the next phase of our patio will be just as nice as the rest of Rumours!
